Filmmaker and winner of the 2023 Iris Prize

Karimah is a Montreal native, Toronto and London-based filmmaker, whose work is centered on crafting stories that dive into themes of overcoming and succumbing to social expectations. She was selected for the 2023 TIFF Filmmaker Lab and TIFF’s Share Her Journey Fellowship. Her short film Scaring Women At Night (TIFF), adapted from Ace Clamber’s short story, won the 2023 Iris Prize, among others. Up next is 4 NAMES a short film exploring the close to home realities of sex trafficking based on the life events of 2 x JUNO nominated recording artist, STORRY.
