For the second year running the team behind the Iris Prize have agreed to be the official adjudicators for Cardiff's Fairy Awards. The Fairies are the local "Oscars" to recognise annually the individuals, drag performers, DJ’s, bar staff, door staff and venue managers who make sure Cardiff is a popular LGBT+ destination in the UK. The city is also home to Pride Cymru, which saw 15,000 people parade through the city in August 2018 and not forgetting the Iris Prize LGBT+ Film Festival! Iris is delighted to be working again on the Fairy Awards. Can we have an award for the Best LGBT+ Film Festival in Cardiff next year?
The annual Cardiff FAIRY AWARDS have confirmed the names of the individual performers and staff through to the final stages of the 2018 awards. The awards recognise the talented people who work hard to make sure that the Cardiff LGBT scene is one of the most vibrant in the UK.
2000 votes have been cast in the first round and these votes will be passed over to the final stage of voting which closes on Saturday 1 December at midnight. The winners of the 2018 Fairy Awards will be announced in a glittering evening at Minsky’s in Cardiff on Sunday 2 December 2018. Doors open at 7pm and the ticket price of £3 will be donated to MIND.
The Golden Cross, WOW! and Mary’s have come together to support the Fairy Awards which have become a popular way to recognise annually the individuals, drag performers, DJ’s, bar staff, door staff and venue managers who make sure the public get to enjoy a big Cardiff night out or relax with a friendly face for a drink after work.
