Chaperone

An unnamed figure picks up a young man in his car. As they drive along deserted road, arriving at an austere rental house in the country, the details of their arrangement become horrifyingly clear. ‘Chaperone’ stars Zachary Quinto as the unnamed driver in this chilling and taut short film.

Sam Max (b. 1995, Pennsylvania) is a playwright and filmmaker. Beginning their career in theatre, their work is known for centering queer characters in “poetic spaces where death and dreams converge, making otherworldly encounters possible” (Suhrkamp Theater Verlag). As a young artist working in performance, their writing and direction became internationally recognized and performed at prestigious festivals in cities such as New York, San Francisco, Berlin, Vienna, and Beijing. They are a recipient of the Lotos Foundation Prize in the Arts and Sciences, the Chesley/Bumbalo Playwriting Award, and a proud member of New Dramatists in New York and Suhrkamp Theater Verlag in Berlin.
