Caleb J. Roberts (he/him) is an award-winning queer, transgender writer and director from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Caleb’s debut short film Homebird was awarded Best Debut Fiction at the Academy Qualifying 34th Galway Film Fleadh. Homebird has gone on to screen and win at numerous festivals internationally, whilst streaming on Channel 4 as part of the Iris Prize Best British 2022.
Focusing on themes surrounding masculinity, queerness, and place, Caleb’s work delivers thought-provoking and authentic queer representation from a trans-masculine perspective. He is excelling as the first transgender person funded by Northern Ireland Screen x BFI.

Enillodd ffilm fer gyntaf Caleb, Homebird, Gwobr Ffuglen Cyntaf Gorau yn 34ain Fleadh Ffilm Galway. Mae Homebird wedi cael ei dangos ac ennill mewn nifer o wyliau rhyngwladol, a chael ei ffrydio ar Channel 4 fel rhan o restr fer Gorau Ym Mhrydain Gwobr Iris 2022.
Gan ganolbwyntio ar themâu sy’n ymwneud â gwrywdod, bod yn queer a lle, mae gwaith Caleb yn cyflwyno cynrychiolaeth queer dilys o safbwynt traws-wrywaidd. Mae’n rhagori fel y person trawsryweddol cyntaf a ariennir gan Northern Ireland Screen x BFI.
