Monsoon

A moving meditation on home, identity and loss as Kit returns to Vietnam. the country of his birth, following his mother's death

Two-time Iris shortlist alumni Hong Khaou follows his sensational debut feature Lilting with this moving drama about a young British-Vietnamese man’s return to the country of his birth. Kit (Crazy Rich Asians’ Henry Golding) and his family fled the country during the Vietnamese-American War. Decades later, he ventures back to a country and a culture unfamiliar to him, so that he can scatter his mothers ashes in her homeland. A chance encounter with Lewis, an American whose father fought in the war, adds another, unexpected dimension to Kit’s homecoming.

Monsoon is a moving meditation on home, identity and loss.

Writer and director Hong Khaou will be in conversation after the screening.
