Norena Shopland, an author/historian, specialises in queer history, and her book Forbidden Lives: LGBT stories from Wales is the first historical work on Welsh LGBTQ+ history. Queering Glamorgan and A Practical Guide to Searching LGBTQIA Historical Records are popular toolkits to aid people in research. A History of Women in Men’s Clothes: from cross-dressing to empowerment explores gender fluidity and in 2021 Shopland was commissioned by the Welsh Government to deliver LGBTQ+ training to local libraries, museums, and archives in Wales. Shopland also writes on Welsh history including her latest book The Welsh Gold King: the life of William Pritchard Morgan.
