Rania Vamvaka

Rania Vamvaka is a dedicated activist who lends most of her time ensuring that LGBT+ ethnic minorities in Wales have representation. Rania is the co-chair of Glitter Cymru, and the founder and chair of Glitter Sisters, the enbys and womyx branch of Glitter. Rania is an out and proud bisexual woman and has spoken on and organised countless panels surrounding the importance of queer people of colour rights giving a voice to those who need it. Rania is part of the Welsh Government’s Expert panel, regarding the LGBTQ Action Plan, contributing to the asylum section. She is currently an ESRC-Funded Doctoral Researcher, at Cardiff University focusing on queer asylum policy. Rania teaches part-time in the School of Social Sciences and is the co-convenor of the School’s Gender and Sexuality Research Group. In her spare time, Rania enjoys cold-water swimming, tending to her allotment and having film marathons.
