Chapter has level access through automatic doors at both the front and rear of the main building. The cinemas are to the right as you come into the building through the front doors. Cinema 1 has wheelchair spaces at the rear, accessible via a stairlift. All Duty Managers are trained in the use of the stairlift.  There are accessible toilets including a changing places facility on the ground floor close to the Cafè Bar.  You can find detailed information about access at Chapter on their website here.

BSL Interpretation and open captions

We offer BSL interpretation for the introduction and question and answer  session during the second screening of each of the Best British Short programmes which are shown with open, descriptive captions.  BSL interpretation is also provided during the award announcements.

audio-description

Some of our feature film presentations, as well as a selection of short films are available with audio description.  Please request a headset from the team at Vue.

relaxed screenings

This year we are offering a number of relaxed screenings where the auditorium will not be as dark, sound levels will be lower and you’ll have freedom to move around.

Certification and age restrictions

Most of the films screening at Iris have not been rated by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC). To help you understand the content of the programmes we have agreed ratings with Cardiff Council based on the guidelines used by the BBFC.  We will not allow people younger than 15 into programmes we’ve rated 15 or people younger than 18 into programmes we’ve rated 18.

Support Animals

Vue Cardiff and Chapter both welcome assistance dogs.

Cinema Exhibition Association card and hynt card

Like our host venues, Iris recognises the CEA card and the Hynt card so your essential companion or carer can receive a complimentary ticket to attend screenings with you. Please choose an access ticket when booking on our on-line box office to automatically book two tickets.
