"Some Girls Hate Dresses" by Somina Fombo, the first recipient of The Iris Prize Documentary Film Finance Fund, is set for global streaming premiere on OUTtv on 4 January 2024, offering a nostalgic look into the black British tomboys from the 1990s.
Film Synopsis: A nostalgic look into the British tomboys from yesteryear told through the lens of the queer black women who wore the label with pride throughout the 1990s. This evocative short film delves into the nuances of identity, self-expression, and resilience, offering a unique perspective on the intersectionality of race, gender, and sexual orientation.  

The film is supported by the Iris Prize Documentary Film Finance Fund sponsored by Froot and Aberystwyth University.
