Travel to Cardiff

Cardiff is easily accessible by train. Local and inter-city services arrive frequently at Cardiff Central station, conveniently located at Central Square in the city centre.


Transport for Wales (TfW) trains travel between Cardiff and destinations across Wales including Swansea, Newport and Wrexham. Longer-distance National Rail services operate between Cardiff and Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham, Gloucester, Bristol, Bath, Taunton and Portsmouth.

Local TfW trains also travel between the South Wales valleys and north Cardiff to Cardiff Queen StreetCardiff Central and other stations near the city centre.

How to get to Iris Festival venues for 2023?

  • Vue Cinema

Vue Cinema is just a four-minute walk from Cardiff Central railway station.

Leave the station from the front hall and enter Central Square. Bear left and briefly follow the Millenium Walkway with the School of Journalism, Media and Culture on your right. Cross the road at Wood Street and you’ll arrive at the cinema.

  • Atrium (University of South Wales Cardiff Campus)

The Atrium is a seven-minute walk from Cardiff Queen Street railway station. From Cardiff Central, you’ll find frequent trains to Queen Street departing from platform 6 – the journey takes around five minutes.

From Queen Street station, turn left and head south down Station Terrace. At the crossroads, bear left on to Churchill Way and continue with the Motorpoint Arena on your right.

As the road curves to the right, bear left under the railway bridge and you’ll arrive at the Atrium.

  • Chapter Arts Centre

Chapter Arts Centre is a 15-minute walk from Ninian Park railway station. From Cardiff Central, you’ll find frequent trains to Ninian Park departing from platform 7 – the journey takes around five minutes.

From Ninian Park station, turn right and head north up Leckwith Road, continuing to follow it past the crossroads. Cross Cowbridge Road East and continue north up Llandaff Road, passing the Canton Hotel on your right.

Take the next left on to Market Place and continue before arriving at the Chapter Arts Centre on your right

  • Stadium Plaza

Stadium Plaza is just a four-minute walk from Cardiff Central railway station.

Leave the station from the front hall and enter Central Square. Bear left and briefly follow the Millenium Walkway with the School of Journalism, Media and Culture on your right. Cross the road at Wood Street and you’ll arrive at the Stadium Plaza.
