Submissions for Iris Prize LGBT+ Film Festival 2021 will open on Friday 8 January 2021
Heading into its 15th year of celebrating LGBT+ film, the Iris Prize LGBT+ Film Festival brings filmmakers and film lovers from all around the world to Cardiff. Iris is the home of the largest LGBT+ short film prize in the world, the prestigious £30,000 Iris Prize, supported by the Michael Bishop Foundation, which allows the winner to make their next LGBT+ short film here in South Wales.
Famed for its open, friendly atmosphere, each year sees more visitors adopted into the Iris family. As well as the chance to see the very best in current LGBT+ short and feature filmmaking, the festival offers legendary parties, panel discussions and special events. A BAFTA A-list qualifying festival, Iris has also been identified as one of the “50 film festivals worth the entry fee” by MovieMaker Magazine 5 times. For the second time in 2021, all Best British shortlisted films will be available on Film4 after the festival via All 4.
A shortlist of 35 entries will be selected for the 15th Iris Prize, 15 entries for the Iris Prize Best British Short Supported by Film4, and up to 12 feature films. These will screen as part of the Iris Prize LGBT+ Film Festival held in Cardiff, Wales, UK in October 2021.
We offer a 100% fee waiver to all Iris Alumni. Please contact info@Irisprize.org to obtain the waiver code.
