Iris 2025 is here!
From Monday 13 October to Sunday 19 October, Iris will showcase the very best in LGBTQ+ storytelling, with Iris Online extending the experience across the UK from 14 October to 7 November.
The festival starts with the world premiere of our 13th Iris Production Never, Never, Never, before moving into a full Community Day on Tuesday (14 Oct), dedicated to local voices and young talent. As the week unfolds, audiences can experience 13 feature films with talent joining us for Q&As, while 35 international shorts compete for the £40,000 Iris Prize, with entries from Pakistan and Turkey taking part for the first time. Wednesday welcomes the long-awaited return of Industry Day, bringing panels, talks and networking to filmmakers and creatives, while Friday (17 Oct) is all about Best British excellence as 15 British films shine on Best British Day.
The excitement builds towards the festival finale, when the winner of the Iris Prize will be revealed on Sunday 19 October at BBC Cymru Wales.
And of course, no Iris would be complete without the legendary parties, red-carpet premieres and special guests that make the festival unlike any other. With relaxed, BSL + Captioned and audio-described screenings, Iris is a space where everyone is welcome. Every year, hundreds join the worldwide Iris Family to discover films, share stories and celebrate together.

Iris Prize LGBTQ+ Film Festival brings filmmakers from around the world to Cardiff, Wales, UK. Iris is home to the largest short film prize in the world – the coveted £40,000 Iris Prize. Supported by the Michael Bishop Foundation, the prize allows the winner to make their next LGBTQ+ short film here in Cardiff.
Iris also works with Film4 to share all Best British shortlisted films on Channel 4, the UK’s largest free streaming platform.
