IRIS IS UNIQUE- WE DON'T JUST SHARE FILMS; WE INVEST IN NEW CONTENT
By offering the Iris Prize which - at £30,000 - is the world’s largest LGBTQ+ short film prize, Iris supports the development of up and coming filmmaking talent. Each year, the winning filmmaker of the coveted Iris Prize is invited back to the UK to make a new film with the support of the Iris Prize team. Through this process, the Iris Prize has seen the creation of ten new short films, with the eleventh currently in pre-production. Each of these diverse and remarkable films showcases a wealth of filmmaking talent from around the globe, offering a significant investment from Iris to the world of LGBTQ+ filmmaking. Iris also runs a Welsh Language film scheme, Straeon Iris, which aims to encourage more LGBTQ+ stories for the screen from Wales, about Wales and in Welsh. Supported by S4C and Ffilm Cymru Wales via BFI NETWORK, so far two short films have been completed. Find out more about the amazing films the Iris Prize has brought into being below. If you are interested in screening or buying the rights to any of the Iris Prize productions, or have any further enquiries, please contact grant@irisprize.org.
